Watch live: Cleveland Cavaliers fans celebrate with NBA championship parade


Cleveland officials braced for hundreds of thousands flooding downtown to celebrate the Cavaliers' first NBA title and the city's first major sports title in more than half a century.

The team's championship parade with LeBron James and the rest of the team is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday next to Quicken Loans Arena before it winds through city streets. Watch live as the Cavs celebrate with their new hardware -- and plenty of Cavaliers fans.

Thousands began to claim spots along the route overnight and by 9 a.m. most parking lots and garages in the area were at capacity.Revelers were encouraged to use public transportation with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority commemorative all-day passes for $5. Several streets in the downtown area were shut down Tuesday night in preparation of the parade.

“This is a family friendly event and fans are reminded that public consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited,” the City of Cleveland said in a news release. “It is best to travel light, bring drinking water and sunscreen."
