Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith has pleaded not guilty to allegations of reckless driving and excessive speeding in Bay Village, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, according to a report by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

According to the Plain Dealer, police pulled over Smith in his 2016 Dodge Avenger around 1:20 a.m. on Oct. 12. How fast Smith was driving wasn't in the report.

The incident happened in the early morning hours, the day before the Cavaliers played in Orlando for their final preseason game.

Smith's lawyer, Daniel Klonowski, has asked for a pretrial hearing, according to the report, and the date has yet to be set.

Cavaliers coach Ty Lue announced Monday that Smith was moving into the starting lineup, replacing free agent pickup Dwyane Wade, who has struggled so far, shooting just 28% from the floor. Smith had been coming off the bench for the first three games, and averaging 6.3 points and shooting 33% from the floor.
