Blake Griffin facing battery charge over Vegas scuffle
Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin has been charged with misdemeanor battery after an Oct. 19 incident in Las Vegas, according to records obtained from the Clark County (Nev.) District Attorney's office.
Las Vegas police previously told The Associated Press that they were investigating a man's claim that Griffin grabbed him, took his phone and slapped him after the man took a photo at Tao nightclub at the Venetian resort.
Griffin's arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 8. If convicted, he faces up to six months of jail and/or $1,000 fine or community service.
The Clippers declined comment Wednesday. Coach Doc Rivers said recently he wasn't overly concerned about the situation.
"I can't say much, but I feel very confident things will work out," he told reporters Oct. 22. "I trust Blake 100 percent. He's a great kid. We'll figure it out and get through it."
Said Griffin that same day: "When the time is right, and I can (talk about it), I will for sure."
TMZ first reported that Griffin had been charged with the misdemeanor.
