Vince Carter agrees to one-year deal with Hawks for 21st NBA season

Already the oldest player in the league, Vince Carter is coming back for a 21st NBA season.
Carter has agreed with the Atlanta Hawks on a one-year contract, a person with direct knowledge of the deal told Paste BN Sports. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly until the deal is official.
The 41-year-old Carter will join Dirk Nowitzki, who re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks recently, as the last members of the 1998 draft class left in the league.
Yahoo! Sports reported the deal is for the veteran minimum salary of $2.4 million.
Carter played a limited role in 58 games with the rebuilding Sacramento Kings last season. He will reportedly be asked to fill a similar role on a young Hawks team with no other player on the roster older than 30.

Atlanta had three first-round picks in last month's draft. Trae Young, the fifth overall pick acquired in a draft-night trade to be the centerpiece of the Hawks' rebuild, is just 19. Kevin Huerter, taken 19th overall, is also 19, and Omari Spellman, drafted 30th, is 21.
John Collins, drafted in the first round last year, is 20 and coming off a rookie season in which he averaged 10.5 points and 7.3 rebounds and made the All-Rookie Second Team.
Carter, the fifth overall pick in 1998, will be 42 in January. Atlanta will be his eighth team. He averaged 5.4 points in 17.7 minutes a game for Sacramento last season. Before that, he averaged 66 games a year in three seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.
An eight-time All-Star, Carter is 27th on the career scoring list with 24,868 points.
