Kings' Rajon Rondo suspended one game over saying 'offensive term' to ref

The NBA suspended Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo one game without pay for “for directing a derogatory and offensive term towards a game official and not leaving the court in a timely manner upon his ejection.”

The incident happened during the third quarter of Sacramento’s 114-97 loss to Boston Celtics in Mexico City on Dec. 3. Rondo received two technical fouls and was ejected.

It took more than a week to issue the suspension. After the first technical foul shot, Rondo walked toward referee Bill Kennedy. It appears Rondo did not say anything but stared at Kennedy, who then ejected Rondo. Rondo then had words for Kennedy.

Rondo signed with the Kings in the offseason and is quietly having a good season, averaging 12.6 points, a league-leading 11 assists and 6.9 rebounds. Rondo also leads the league in triple-doubles with four.
