Charles Oakley appears in court to face charges from MSG scuffle

Charles Oakley appeared in a New York courtroom on Tuesday for an arraignment hearing on the misdemeanor counts that arose out of a scuffle between the former New York Knicks enforcer and security guards at Madison Square Garden in February.
Oakley, 53, remained silent as the charges --- three counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of trespassing --- were read aloud by prosecutors, according to published reports. Oakley, however, wasn't quiet as he exited and entered the courthouse flanked by members of the news media.

“I’m trying to do what I have to do right now,” Oakley told reporters after the hearing. “It’s some B.S. to me, but it’s a process. They say you have to play the game.”
Oakley, who has been critical with of the Knicks, had a very public falling out with Knicks owner James Dolan before he was handcuffed and arrested at MSG in the first quarter of a Knicks-Los Angeles Clippers game on Feb. 8. Oakley was banned from MSG, although the Knicks announced days later it had been lifted.
Oakley told reporters Tuesday he “did nothing wrong.”
