Lakers star LeBron James' latest accomplishment: Enduring a two-week body cleanse

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — LeBron James said he completed a two-week body cleanse Tuesday and that being father of three children made it even more challenging.

“That’s the discipline you’ve got to have when you’ve got three kids running around the house and they’re making sprinkled chocolate chip pancakes at 11 o’clock at night," James said Thursday after a morning shootaround at the Lakers’ training facility. “You have to be very, very disciplined to not even indulge."

After noting he abstained from consuming gluten, alcohol or artificial sugars during the two-week cleanse, James was asked what was left.

“In life? Air," James replied with a grin.

Was the cleanse hard?

“Yeah, it’s challenging, but it’s good,’’ he said. “I like challenges.’’

Asked what affect going without wine for two weeks had, James said, “It made me want wine more."
