LeBron James will be switching his Los Angeles Lakers jersey number from No. 23 to No. 6, The Athletic reported on Wednesday.
James wore No. 6 during his four seasons with the Miami Heat from 2010-2014. He'd worn 23 every other season of his career, 11 total with the Cleveland Cavaliers and his first three with the Lakers.
The decision becomes one of the more high-profile number changes since the late Kobe Bryant switched from No. 8 to No. 24 in the mid-2000s. The Lakers retired both numbers after he retired in 2016.
James, a four-time champions and Finals MVP, will be wearing No. 6 in the Space Jam sequel he is starring in and will premiere this summer.
