Pelicans G Tyreke Evans out for year after knee surgery
Pelicans G Tyreke Evans will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced, after undergoing a third surgery on his knee on Thursday.
Evans had offseason arthroscopic surgery last May and had seemingly recovered heading into this season. But he had another surgery in October after re-injuring his knee in preseason and missed the first 17 games of this season. More recently he’s missed the last nine games after the knee flared up again on Jan. 25.
Evans was averaging 15.2 ppg and a team-leading 6.6 assists per game. The Pelicans are 20-33 heading into the All-Star break and are 6.5 games shy of the No. 8 seed in the West.
