Indiana Pacers restore order vs. Atlanta Hawks in Game 5
The momentum never shifted in the Indiana Pacers-Atlanta Hawks first-round playoff series. It stayed with the home team.
The No. 3 seed Pacers rebounded from consecutive losses in Atlanta with a thundering 106-83 victory Wednesday in Indianapolis. David West scored 24 points and Paul George had 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead a balanced effort.
For one quarter, the No. 6 seed Hawks seemed equipped to hang with the Pacers, leading 22-21 in the first. But Indiana's grinding defense and efficient offense ground away at Atlanta.
The Hawks' top three scorers — Josh Smith, Al Horford and Jeff Teague — shot 13-for-46. The Pacers' top three — George, West and George Hill — went 23-for-34.
The Pacers also held a ridiculous 51-28 rebounding edge.
Indiana took a seven-point lead into the locker room at halftime, then stretched it out slowly until having the game completely under control by the end.
