Stan Van Gundy angry at no-calls on LeBron James

Early in the second quarter of Game 1 between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy expressed his displeasure towards what he believes to be a lack of officiating against LeBron James.

"A couple calls have upset our guys. They've gotta understand, LeBron's LeBron. They're not going to call offensive fouls on him, he gets to do what he wants. They gotta understand that," Van Gundy — who has earned a reputation as a coach who isn't afraid to speak his mind — said to ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters during the broadcast.

James had 12 points and six assists in 19 minutes in the first half. He also had zero offensive fouls. The Pistons went into the break with a 58-53 lead.

After the game, Van Gundy softened his take, and said that the Cavaliers' play was the difference in the game.

“I thought it evened out really well," he said. "Early on, I thought there were two pretty obvious offensive fouls down there on him. But that’s two calls in an entire game. After that, refereeing had nothing to do with tonight. They did a good job. It went both ways. I thought they did a really good job. It was decided by the players on the floor, as it should be.”
