Union plans to get involved in Chris Bosh, Miami Heat situation
Miami Heat All-Star forward Chris Bosh has been sidelined since before the All-Star break with apparent blood clots, and with his well-being as the primary concern, has yet to come to an agreement with the team on when — or if — he will make his long-awaited return.
On Tuesday, nearly three months since Bosh's last game, the National Basketball Players Association released a statement of their plans to get involved in the situation.
“Our top priority is Chris’ health and well-being,” the NBPA said in the statement. “We have spoken with Chris and his agent, and have reached out to the Miami Heat. We are hopeful that all parties involved can meet as soon as possible to resolve the situation.”
Bosh, who has no official timetable for return, was seen knocking down jump shots in a video posted last week around the same time that his wife, Adrienne Bosh, started the Twitter trend #BringBoshBack.
On March 11, Bosh released a statement claiming that he believes he will return at some point this season.
The Heat are up 1-0 in their Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Toronto Raptors, but there's no question that they would benefit from the return of their star player, who averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists on 46.7% shooting before the injury.
