Warriors coach Steve Kerr shoots down Stephen Curry injury talk

After their first back-to-back losses of the season, the defending champion Golden State Warriors are in trouble, down 3-1 in the Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The reasons for this run deep, but naturally, one can't help but wonder: What's wrong with Stephen Curry?

Since returning from a four-game absence with a Grade 1 MCL sprain that kept him out of parts of the first and second rounds, the back-to-back MVP has, at times, struggled to play at the superhuman levels that he did throughout the regular season. Particularly in the Warriors' last two losses, where he shot just 7-for-17 in the 133-105 Game 3 loss followed by 19 points and six turnovers on 6-of-20 shooting in Game 4.

What's even more unusual, he shot just 5-for-21 (23.8%) from beyond the arc over the course of those two games. For anyone else, this would be looked at as two off-nights shooting the ball. Nothing more, nothing less. But for Curry, after knocking down 402 threes at 45.4% during the regular season, it has to be something more. Doesn't it?

As Paste BN's Sam Amick wrote, Curry insists he's just fine. So does coach Steve Kerr, who — after Tuesday night's 118-94 loss — said that Curry "just had a lousy night."

"It happens, even to the best players in the world," Kerr added.

Golden State, now with their backs against the wall, will travel back to Oracle Arena for a must-win Game 5 on Thursday night.
