The highly anticipated Eastern Conference semifinal series between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks just became even more interesting after another astonishing finish.

Boston started fast in Game 2 and built up a lead as large as 16 in the first half against the Knicks. New York managed to hang around throughout the game with a late scoring run in the second and third quarters, respectively.

Jalen Brunson made an 18-foot two-point shot to give the Knicks the lead for the first time in the game with 1:59 left in regulation.

The Knicks earned the 91-90 victory on Wednesday and now lead the series 2-0, with Game 2 finishing with similar results to Game 1.

The defending champion and No. 2-seeded Celtics blew a 20-point lead on their home floor as the Knicks staged a remarkable comeback to force overtime and eventually pull off the upset in Game 1.

The Celtics shot 35.1% from the floor and converted just 15-of-60 tries (25%) from 3-point range in Game 1. The 60 attempts and 45 missed 3s were both single-game NBA playoff records.

The Celtics shot 25% from long range after making just 10 of 40 three-point attempts.

Knicks-Celtics highlights

Final: Knicks 91, Celtics 90

Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 17 rebounds for the Knicks in the come-from-behind victory. Josh Hart added 23 points and Jalen Brunson scored 17 points, but it was Mikal Bridges’ fourth-quarter offense that helped make a difference in the final quarter.

Bridges scored all 14 of his points in the fourth quarter after shooting 0-for-8 from the field and going scoreless through the first three quarters.

Jalen Brown and Derrick White each scored a team-high 20 points for the Celtics in the loss. Jayson Tatum finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds after he was held to two points and nine rebounds in the first half.

End of 3Q: Celtics 73, Knicks 61

The Celtics remain in front after three quarters of play, despite the Knicks' best efforts to make the game competitive.

The Knicks finished the quarter on an 8-0 scoring run but will need to capitalize on that momentum throughout the fourth quarter to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Halftime: Celtics 50, Knicks 41

The Celtics took a 50-41 lead into the locker room at halftime, but the Knicks did finish the quarter on a positive note.

New York finished on an 11-4 scoring run after trailing by as many as 16 points with 2:55 left in the half.

Karl-Anthony Towns led the Knicks with a double-double in the first half of 14 points and 10 rebounds (eight on defense). Josh Hart was the only other double-digit scorer for New York, scoring 11 points.

Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 17 points and Derrick White added 14 points. Jayson Tatum was limited to just two points in the first half but collected nine rebounds.

End of 1Q: Celtics 24, Knicks 13

The Knicks struggled to get going in the first quarter, with the Celtics holding New York to just four points through the first eight minutes of the game. Boston led by as many as 12 points in the quarter. It was the lowest-scoring first quarter for the Knicks in the playoffs since 2003.

The Celtics had 10 of their first 16 points scored in the paint.

Josh Hart made a three-point shot that helped get the Knicks back on the scoreboard with four minutes left in the quarter.

Kristaps Porzingis returns for Celtics

Kristaps Porzingis was back in the rotation for the Celtics in Game 2 after missing the first game in the series due to an illness. He was initially listed as probable before the game.

He started in all 48 games he played in before Wednesday's game. He came off the bench with 2:24 left in the first quarter and stayed in the game for the start of the second quarter.
