Tyrese Haliburton injury: Pacers star ruled out for rest of NBA Finals Game 7
Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton went down with what looked to be a very significant injury during the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With 5:02 left in the period, after catching a pass from Obi Toppin and trying to blow past Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Haliburton tumbled to the floor with a non-contact injury. Haliburton immediately slapped the floor in pain and discomfort, expressing obvious emotion and frustration. After trainers spent several minutes tending to him, Haliburton was eventually helped off the floor and into the locker room with a towel draped over his head.
Haliburton had nine points, including 3 for 4 on 3-pointers, in seven minutes. The Pacers took a 1-point lead to the locker room against the Thunder at halftime, but his presence was missed on the court in the second half.
Haliburton suffered a right calf injury in Game 5 and was questionable for Game 6, but he managed to play and was deemed healthy enough to play in Game 7.
Tyrese Haliburton suffers Achilles injury
The Pacers announced, per ABC broadcaster Lisa Salters, that Haliburton suffered a right lower leg injury and will not return.
Haliburton had suffered various leg injuries throughout his career, but he suffered his most notable injury during the biggest game of his career.
Salters would later report on the broadcast that Haliburton's family went back to the locker room to check on his status during the game.
Haliburton’s father, John Haliburton, told Salters that it was an Achilles injury that was keeping Tyrese out of the game.
"He says that he seems to be in good spirits," Salters said on the broadcast. "He's watching the game, and he's trying to root on his team from back in the locker room."
The injury will likely keep Haliburton out for the early part of the 2025-26 season.
