T'wolves guard Ricky Rubio out indefinitely with sprained elbow

Ricky Rubio won't be lobbing passes to Karl-Anthony Towns any time soon.

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Monday that the starting point guard is out indefinitely with a sprained right elbow suffered during Saturday's loss to the Sacramento Kings.

The injury was confirmed during an evaluation by team orthopedic surgeon Diana Dahm on Monday night.

The 26-year-old Spaniard averaged 10.1 points and 8.7 assists per game last season and was instrumental in Towns' impressive debut campaign that culminated in Rookie of the Year honors.

Kris Dunn, whom the T'wolves drafted No. 5 overall in June, is expected to start Tuesday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

"(I’m) real comfortable," Dunn said Monday. "I think I’ve been getting a lot of good minutes. I’ve been playing in some tough situations the last two games and that’s the type of games I like to play in. ... I have to step up and be ready.”
