Warriors TV reporter Mike Shumann admits to jacket theft, resigns his post

The sports reporter and TV anchor who was caught stealing a jacket that belonged to a Golden State Warriors employee has resigned.
Mike Shumann was caught on video nabbing a Warriors jacket that belonged to the team's director of security. Shumann, who worked for more than 24 years at KGO-7, the ABC affiliate in the Bay Area, admitted to the April 24 theft.
The video shows Shumann picking up the jacket off a chair at AT&T Center in San Antonio, where the Warriors were playing the Spurs in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Shumann grabs the white jacket, folds it up and slips it in his bag, then walks out.
The station removed him from NBA coverage before Game 4 of that series.
Shumann, who won a Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers in 1981 as a receiver, said in a statement:
"I regret any embarrassment I have caused the station. My recent actions do not reflect the high standard of conduct expected at KGO. Nor do they represent the integrity with which I have conducted my professional sports and broadcast careers."
