The Golden State Warriors are throwing it back.

The team announced Monday that it partnered with Nike to create its City Edition jerseys for the upcoming NBA season, honoring the 47 years the team played in Oakland, including the team from the "We Believe" playoff run in 2007. Called "Oakland Forever," the jerseys are inspired by the ones the team wore from 1997-2010 and will feature "Oakland" across the chest in the same color and style as the older jerseys.

"We Believe" became the rallying cry for that 2007 team, which became the first eight-seed in NBA history to upset a No. 1 seed in the playoffs. That Warriors squad, led by Baron Davis, Jason Richardson and Stephen Jackson, beat the Dallas Mavericks in that series, 4-2.

“Oakland is and forever will be part of this franchise’s identity,” Warriors President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts said in a press release. “The Oakland Forever campaign, in partnership with Rakuten, will deepen our ties and impact in Oakland through a dedicated focus on community efforts, advancing educational equity, and providing safe access to health and wellness resources.”

The Warriors played their home games in Oakland from 1972-1996 and 1997-2019, but moved to the Chase Center in San Francisco at the start of the most recent season.
