Markieff Morris traded by Wizards right after local pizza chain commercial
People in the Washington D.C. area will still see plenty of Markieff Morris over the next few weeks – just not in his Wizards jersey.
The 29-year-old forward was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans along with a 2023 second-round pick for Wesley Johnson on Wednesday night, just hours after a local pizza commercial he starred in was completed.
The ad for Paisano’s Pizza was shot in late August, finished on Wednesday night and was scheduled to air twice during Wizards games on NBC Sports Washington for the rest of the season.
Despite the trade, Morris' ad will debut during Saturday’s Wizards-Bulls game.
“What timing. It’s like they knew or something,” ESB Advertising founder Eiman Bassam told the Washington Post.

Bassam added the commercial will air for at least a few weeks, but their troubles might just be starting.
Another ad for the restaurant chain featuring Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky and winger Devante Smith-Pelly debuted last month. Burakovsky's name has been floated in trade speculation ahead of the NHL's Feb. 25 trade deadline.
“We might switch to running the Caps commercial during Wizards games,” Bassam said. “Hopefully Andre doesn’t get traded.”
