San Antonio officials woo Final Four committee

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio officials are planning a full blown public rally to persuade the men's basketball Final Four selection committee to choose the Alamodome as a venue for the tournament.

A marching band, cheerleaders and plans to upgrade the Alamodome are being used as inducement to woo the NCAA delegation Wednesday morning at the Rivercenter Mall in downtown San Antonio. Selection committee members will be on site to inspect the stadium and gauge public support for the event.

The City Council is reviewing plans to renovate the aging stadium, including concourse, north plaza and loading dock expansions and locker room renovations.

The NCAA will announce in November which cities will host the games from 2017 to 2020. San Antonio hasn't hosted a Final Four since 2008.
