Monday tip-off: No. 5 Villanova visits Georgetown in Big East clash
Setting up the day in college basketball:
Best bet: Is it our imagination, or does the word 'big' get tossed around a lot in college sports?
Anyway, after completing a sweep of its neighborhood 'Big Five' rivals during the weekend by taking care of Penn, No. 5 Villanova returns to Big East action at longtime rival Georgetown (9 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1).
Wildcats C Daniel Ochefu was dominant inside against the smaller Quakers, picking up 21 points and 10 rebounds. It will be up to the Hoyas' Joshua Smith to keep him from getting comfortable in the post.
Number of the day:23. In other 'big' news, TCU's football program enjoyed a breakthrough year in its new Big 12 home. It's taken a bit longer for the hardwood brethren to adapt to the grind, but the Horned Frogs finally snapped a 23-game conference losing streak during the weekend at Texas Tech. Monday's night's visit from No. 20 Texas (7 p.m. ET, ESPNU) will pose more of a challenge but also provide more of a résumé boost if the Horned Frogs can make it two wins in succession. The Longhorns just stopped a two-game slide of their own in convincing fashion against West Virginia Saturday, so they should be prepare for the sort of defense TCU will throw at them.
Days until Selection Sunday: 55.
