Tuesday tip-off: VCU hosts George Washington

Setting up the day in college basketball:

Best bet: No.15 Virginia Commonwealth has the Atlantic 10 lead to itself for the moment after Dayton's loss to Davidson last week. But the league's upper division has other strong contenders. The Rams play host to one of them tonight as George Washington makes the trip down I-95 (7 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network).

The Colonials (16-4, 6-1) have rattled off four wins in a row and can claim a share of the A-10 lead with a win. But they'll have to contend with VCU's relentless press that produces 10.4 steals a game.

Number of the day: 3. No. 25 Arkansas regained a tenuous foothold in the coaches poll this week, helped by a one-point escape against Missouri. One of the key numbers from that win was the mere three turnovers committed by the Razorbacks. They'll need to practice a similar level of ball security tonight as they host Tennessee (9 p.m. ET, ESPN2). Arkansas gave it away 18 times against the Vols a couple of weeks ago in Knoxville, contributing to the first of its two Southeastern Conference defeats.

Days until Selection Sunday: 47.
