Louisville point guard Chris Jones suspended

Starting point guard Chris Jones has been suspended from the University of Louisville basketball team and did not make the trip to Syracuse for Wednesday's game, Louisville announced Tuesday night.

Jones was suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules, and it came as a surprise as Louisville (20-5, 8-4 in the ACC) prepared for a 7 p.m.Wednesday tip-off at Syracuse.

Jones is a key cog in Louisville's rotation and averages 13.6 points per game. His suspension, for now, is one game.

Reached Tuesday night, Louisville coach Rick Pitino said he could not comment on the matter.

Freshman Quentin Snider is expected to start in Jones's place.
