Time, TV: 2:45 p.m. (approximate), CBS
Where: Pittsburgh
Why Butler will win:
Butler, the Midwest's 6-seed, plays smart and shoots well. Texas won't scare them the Bulldogs, who have wins vs. North Carolina, Georgetown, Xavier, Providence and St. John's twice. Kellen Dunham is the scoring leader (16.7) and also is the team leader in three-point shooting (41.5%) and free throw shooting (85.7%). Roosevelt Jones (12.6) and Andrew Chrabascz (11.1) also score in double figures.
Why Texas will win: The Longhorns are big and talented. They lead the nation in blocked shots (7.9 a game, one more than second-place Kentucky). Myles Turner, a 6-11 freshman, is 18th nationally with 2.7 blocks a game, one of five Longhorns with 32 or more blocks. The Longhorns are led by Isaiah Taylor (13 ppg), followed by Turner (10.4) and Jonathan Holmes (10.2). Texas holds opponents to 36.8% from the field and boasts an average rebounding margin of 8.3, both best in the Big 12.
History lesson: Butler missed the NCAA tournament a year ago but the Bulldogs are 16-7 with two trips to the Final Four and two more to the round of 16 in their last seven NCAA tournament appearances. Butler has made three NCAA tournaments in the last five years while representing three different conferences: Horizon, Atlantic 10 and Big East.
