March Madness: Three things to know about the NCAA tournament on Wednesday
1. SHARED SPOTLIGHT: This weekend's Final Four should have a clear storyline with historic implications: Kentucky's pursuit of a national championship and the unbeaten mark that comes with it, and three other teams' attempts to derail the Wildcats.
But the religious freedom law controversy raging around Indiana's state capital, which also happens to be hosting the Final Four, is threatening to usurp college men's basketball's premier event. Mark Emmert, president of the Indianapolis-based NCAA, has stated repeated concerns, and the staff of the defending national champion UConn team won't be present as a result of the law's adoption. Attendance at the nearby College Football Playoff committee selection meetings is also being affected, and the Playoff executive director said Indiana needs to fix the problems created by the law.
2. BEST OF THE BEST: The college basketball coaching carousel is picking up speed, but the four coaches in the Final Four couldn't be more beloved by their respective fan bases. Who deserves the most love, though? A crew of Paste BN Sports Network voices shared their opinions.
3. NIGEL HAYES: Wisconsin's sophomore starting forward has emerged as one of the wittiest, most charming figures in the NCAA tournament. But he has a serious side and a serious cause, too.
