College basketball postseason: Room for 164 teams this season
College football famously offers a bowl game to 62.5% of its teams — 40 bowl games, meaning 80 slots for 128 teams.
College basketball is edging that way as well.
With the debut this year of the Vegas 16 (announced in November), 164 of 346 D-I schools (according to the NCAA) will get a crack at the post-conference tournament postseason.
That's 47% ... not exactly Bowl-a-rama ... but a lot.
Almost everybody plays.
