DALLAS — Loyola-Chicago’s 98-year-old team chaplain offered more than a pregame prayer before the Ramblers played Tennessee Saturday in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
With the team circled around the wheelchair-restricted nun, Sister Jean Dolores-Schmidt told the 11th-seeded Ramblers not to be afraid of the third-seeded Volunteers’ height.
“Height doesn’t mean that much,’’ she said less than an hour before tipoff. “You’re good jumpers, you’re good rebounders, you’re good at everything.
“Just keep that in mind.’’
Sister Jean and the Ramblers have gained national attention since the team upset No. 6 Miami in the first round on a last-second shot.
