Baylor jumps Gonzaga for No. 1 spot in Paste BN Sports men's basketball poll

This week was something of a rarity for this wild college basketball season in that there were few major upsets. There is, however, a big surprise with a change at the top of the Paste BN Sports coaches poll.

Baylor moves into the No. 1 spot, overtaking Gonzaga by two poll points. The Bears, picked first on 15 of 32 ballots, head the coaches poll for the second time in program history, with their last No. 1 appearance coming in January of 2017. Gonzaga, which posted an easy defeat of Pacific last week, slips to second despite receiving two more first-place votes than Baylor.

The rest of the top 10 remains largely unchanged, with the teams ranked third through eighth staying put. Kansas is No. 3 followed by still undefeated San Diego State. The ACC holds down three of the next four slots as No. 5 Louisville, No. 6 Florida State and No. 8 Duke also held serve this week.

Atlantic 10 leader Dayton continues at No. 7. The Big East rounds out the top 10 as Seton Hall and Villanova each move up a spot. Michigan State falls five places to No. 14 following a midweek setback at Indiana.

Colorado rejoins the poll this week at No. 21, and No. 23 Penn State returns, too. Also moving in is SEC leader LSU, regaining its preseason No. 24 ranking.

Texas Tech, Memphis and Arizona drop out after losses.
