Gonzaga remains No. 1, while Duke tumbles in Ferris Mowers Men's Basketball Coaches Poll

Gonzaga retains the top spot in the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll heading into conference tournament week.

The Bulldogs, who did not play this week but take the court Monday in the West Coast Conference semifinals, received 27 of 32 first-place votes in the wake of then-No. 2 Duke’s loss to North Carolina in its regular-season finale.

It is Arizona that inherits the No. 2 position on the eve of the Pac-12 tournament. The Wildcats picked up a pair of first-place nods, as did No. 3 Baylor. The last No. 1 vote went to No. 4 Auburn, and fellow SEC contender Kentucky rounds out the top five.

Kansas checks in at No. .6 this week, nudging ahead of Duke which slips five places. Villanova vaults three spots to No. 8, Purdue stays put at No. 9 and Providence falls two positions but holds on in the top 10.

MARCH MADNESS: Conference tournament schedules, scores

There wasn’t much upward mobility this week, but UCLA does make a five-spot jump to No. 13. Murray State rises into the top 20 after securing its berth to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Ohio Valley tournament.Colorado State rejoins the poll at No. 24.

Thanks to last week’s tie for 25th there are two dropouts, Alabama and Michigan State.
