Kansas men's basketball coach Bill Self won't coach his team's first-round matchup in the NCAA Tournament as he continues to recover from a health issue that caused him to miss the entire Big 12 Conference tournament.
Assistant Norm Roberts will continue duties as head coach.
The Jayhawks, the No. 1 seed in the West Regional, are set to play No. 16 Howard seed at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa at 2 p.m. ET.
The 60-year-old Self received two stents after he experienced chest pain before the Big 12 Tournament.
He did attend the Jayhawks' practice on Wednesday, but during a news conference, Roberts said Self was hopeful to coach the first-round game and that he was day-to-day.
