Hubert Davis contract details: North Carolina basketball coach extended through 2029-30 season

Hubert Davis doesn't appear to be leaving Chapel Hill anytime soon.
The fourth-year North Carolina men's basketball coach has signed a contract extension through the 2029-30 season with the Tar Heels.
Tuesday's news of the deal comes at an interesting time in the college basketball season, as North Carolina is danger of missing the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons under Davis.
Another oddity to the timing is that Davis and North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham signed the contract extension on Dec. 4 — the same day that the Tar Heels lost to then-No. 10 Alabama in the ACC/SEC challenge — according to the contract that was posted on the school's website and obtained by Paste BN Sports.
In his four seasons at North Carolina, Davis has led the Tar Heels to a 96-42 overall record and 54-23 record in ACC play. The Tar Heels have reached the Sweet 16 twice in his tenure. In Davis' first season after taking over for Roy Williams, North Carolina defeated Duke in the Final Four and then lost to Kansas in the national title game.
At 18-11 overall this season, North Carolina is in sixth place in the ACC standings at 11-6. Next up for the Tar Heels, who beat Florida State on Monday, is a Saturday home game against Miami.
