OVERVIEW: Hampton is the regular-season champion and top seed. But the Pirates dropped a 20-point decision to No. 2 seed and archrival Norfolk State in their last outing of the regular campaign. Third-seeded South Carolina State and league coach of the year Murray Garvin could also challenge. James Daniel of Howard is the nation's leading scorer (27.2 ppg), but the Bison won't be expected to do much damage.
