Mountain West: Conference tournament preview
MOUNTAIN WEST
BEGINS: Wednesday
CHAMPIONSHIP: Saturday, 6 p.m. ET, CBS
WHERE: Las Vegas
OVERVIEW: San Diego State was three games better than anyone else during the conference season, so this tournament is really the Aztecs' to lose. Lots can happen, of course. Jeremy Hemsley (13.1 ppg), a 6-3 freshman, leads San Diego State's deliberate offense. The Aztecs score only 68.2 points a game, but they give up an average of only 60.0. The No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, Fresno State and Boise State, happen to be the teams that delivered San Diego State's conference losses, so expect the Bulldogs and Broncos to be the main threats.
