UCLA men's basketball player Mac Etienne was arrested and cited for assault following an altercation with fans after Thursday night's game at Arizona.

At the end of the game -- which Arizona won 76-66 -- video shows Etienne, a redshirt freshman who is out for the season with a knee injury, appearing to spit at Wildcats fans as the UCLA team exited the court.

University of Arizona police Sgt. Sean Shields told ESPN officers placed Etienne under arrest and issued him a citation for assault with "the intent to injure, provoke or insult" another person.

An official report will be released on Friday.

Shields told ESPN Etienne will have a court date set in Arizona, but could be allowed to address the charges without traveling back to the state.

UCLA issued a statement to ESPN acknowledging the incident, and said the matter is under review.
