Notre Dame coach says Everett Golson will join bowl practice

Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday that suspended quarterback Everett Golson will be eligible to practice with the team when it begins preparation for a bowl.

Kelly, speaking in his weekly news conference, answered in the affirmative when asked whether Golson would be back with the team for pre-bowl practices but that he could not comment on whether Golson had been readmitted to the school.

"I think that application process has been submitted, is what I know of, and that decisions relative to admissions happen sometime in the middle of December," Kelly said.

Notre Dame announced May 26 that Golson, who led the Fighting Irish to a BCS Championship appearance last season, exercised "poor academic judgment" and would be suspended for the fall 2013 school term and football season.

Golson started 11 of 13 games, completing 58.8% of his passes for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns with six interceptions as a freshman.

Senior Tommy Rees has quarterbacked Notre Dame to a 7-3 record this season in Golson's absence.
