Fairmont St. to unveil statue of former coach

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) — Fairmont State University is unveiling a statue of former longtime coach Harold "Deacon" Duvall.

The statue will make its debut Thursday night prior to Fairmont State's home football opener against Notre Dame College.

Duvall compiled a record of 125-42-3 as head coach from 1952 to 1971. Under Duvall, Fairmont State won eight West Virginia Conference championships and earned the 1967 NAIA National Championship.
