Previewing Tuesday night's college football TV game

Tuesday night's TV game:

Arkansas State (4-2) at Louisiana-Lafayette (3-3)

Time/TV: 8 p.m. ET/ESPN2. Surface: Artificial.

Line: Arkansas State by 2. Sagarin difference: Arkansas State by 6.27.

Synopsis: The Sun Belt Conference puts its best foot forward in Tuesday night's prime-time clash, matching the league's most successful programs (they've won their last five bowl games between them). The Ragin' Cajuns took care of business at Texas State a week ago leading up to this date with the Red Wolves, who got a couple extra days off after their Oct. 11 win at Georgia State. Lafayette's win last Tuesday came at a cost as go-to WR Jamal Robinson went out with a season-ending foot injury. Veteran Cajuns' QB Terrance Broadway is a master of the read option, and RBs Elijah McGuire and Alonzo Harris know what to do when they get the ball in space. But Arkansas State's defense, paced by LB Qushaun Lee, is the best in the Sun Belt. Another target, possibly WR Al Riles, must emerge to allow Broadway to stretch the field. A-State keeps getting its head coach hired away. The Red Wolves' new first-year man is Blake Anderson, whose stops as an assistant included a stint with the Cajuns. As such, their offense will look similar with dual-threat QB Fredi Knighten at the controls. He'll try to keep the tempo fast as he makes extensive use of RB Michael Gordon and WR J.D. McKissic. Knighten has reversed roles on a couple of occasions with WR Tres Houston, another wrinkle for the Cajuns' front featuring DT Christian Ringo and LB Trae Johnson to consider.

Jeff Sagarin's power ratings show the relative strength of teams; 3.23 points were added to the home team's rating to calculate the difference.
