The Paste BN Sports college football staff — Nicole Auerbach, Paul Myerberg, George Schroeder and Dan Wolken — weighs in with some bold predictions for Week 5 of the college football season:

Nicole Auerbach

Oregon quarterback Dakota Prukop is benched in favor of true freshman Justin Herbert ... and it won't even matter. The Ducks will be trounced badly by No. 6 Washington, which will snap a 12-year winning streak. It'll be so bad — especially considering that the ceiling for this year's Ducks could be four wins — that Mark Helfrich's seat becomes mighty hot.

Paul Myerberg

Tennessee’s perfect season will come to an end at Texas A&M. Is that a bold prediction? Not really, unless you look at things from the Aggies’ perspective: A&M is 1-5 under Kevin Sumlin in home games against ranked competition. Not to mention that A&M hasn’t started 6-0 since 1994. So yes, an A&M win against the Volunteers would be surprising given recent history. That makes this qualify as a bold prediction.

George Schroeder

I’m not calling an upset in Fayetteville. It could be close again, just like the last two meetings, but Alabama will beat Arkansas. But this three-game stretch is brutal for the Crimson Tide. After the Hogs, Alabama plays at Tennessee and then hosts Texas A&M. As much as the Tide has dominated the SEC in the last few years, it has also taken a loss during the SEC West gauntlet. You heard it here first: Alabama loses to the loser of Saturday’s Tennessee-Texas A&M game.

Virginia Tech will emerge from the weekend as a real threat to make some noise both in the ACC and nationally. This is a team we've kind of forgotten about since committing a mess of turnovers against Tennessee, but they've outscored their opponents since then 103-17. This weekend is a good spot for the Hokies to catch North Carolina, which is coming off the thrilling win at Florida State and is susceptible to a hangover.

I don't think people are talking enough about what Justin Fuente is doing with this offense. Jerod Evans is completing 67% of his passes and has a 13-to-1 TD/INT ratio. They're doing a real good job utilizing their weapons like Travon McMillian, Isaiah Ford and Bucky Hodges. I think they're probably the best team in the Coastal and they've got the friendliest schedule if they can get past this one — which I think they will.
