Hurricane Matthew turns N.C. State-Notre Dame game into 100-yard slip-and-slide

Football in the rain is supposed to be fun, right?

On Saturday, the North Carolina State-Notre Dame game in Raleigh looked like the furthest thing from fun.

From the 20 mph-plus winds to the endless torrential downpour, Hurricane Matthew transformed the field of Carter-Finley Stadium into a 100-yard slip and slide, hampering any sort of offensive production from either team from the opening kickoff to the final whistle, as the Wolfpack won 10-3.

The two teams combined for just 311 total yards (95 passing). Notre Dame QB and preseason Heisman candidate DeShone Kizer only managed to throw for 54 yards (9-for-26) and an interception, while NC State sophomore QB Ryan Finley was just 5-for-12 for 27 yards. Both teams lost two fumbles.
