Vincent Testaverde to transfer from Miami

Quarterback Vincent Testaverde is leaving the University of Miami, the school where his father won the Heisman Trophy.
Hurricanes coach Mark Richt tapped redshirt junior Malik Rosier as the starter and redshirt sophomore Evan Shirreffs as the backup. That left Vincent Testaverde -- a redshirt junior who transferred from Texas Tech in 2015 -- with the prospect of no playing time for the second consecutive season.

Playoff update: What's next for the Playoff? No change anytime soon — staying at four teams
"Vincent approached me this morning and indicated that he felt like he would have more opportunities for playing time at another program," Richt said in a statement issued by Miami. "We wish him all the best in his future plans."
Vinny Testaverde won the Heisman Trophy, along with several other major awards, in 1986 on a Hurricanes team that lost in the Fiesta Bowl to Penn State, which claimed the national title. He played 21 seasons in the NFL with seven teams.
