Former North Dakota athlete among those injured in Las Vegas shooting

A former University of North Dakota football and baseball player was among the more than 500 people injured when a gunman opened fire during a country music concert in Las Vegas Sunday night.

Andrew Gudmunson, 30, remained hospitalized Monday, UND athletic director Brian Faison said on Twitter. At least 58 people were killed in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

“We're told he is out of surgery, stable and conscious, but more surgery ahead,” Faison wrote. “Please keep Andrew and his family in your thoughts."

Gudmunson played at UND from 2007-09 after transferring from Nebraska, according to the Grand Forks Herald. He currently works as a real estate agent in his hometown, Minot, N.D.

Jeff Dodson, who coached at UND before the school eliminated baseball due to budget cut, wished his former player well.
