FAU coach Lane Kiffin says he offered scholarship to Matt Leinart's 11-year-old son

Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin is already thinking ahead to the 2025 season.

The former Southern California head coach and ex-Alabama assistant said over social media that he's already offered a scholarship to a sixth grader — Cole Leinart, the 11-year-old son of former USC standout quarterback Matt Leinart.

Kiffin, who has previously offered scholarships to grade schoolers, responded to a Fox Sports reporter's video of Cole Leinart, a 5-foot-7 quarterback, completing a 30-yard pass. Kiffin said he had already offered Cole a scholarship and also tagged Matt Leinart in the post.

Kiffin served on the Trojans' staff as an assistant to Pete Carroll when the elder Leinart was a Heisman Trophy winner.

Last season, Kiffin offered a scholarship to seventh grader Kaden Martin, the son of USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin.

Kiffin signed a 10-year deal with FAU this past summer after piloting the Owls to an 11-3 record last season. Florida Atlantic is currently 3-3 this year.
