USC quarterback JT Daniels to enter transfer portal, school says
Southern California quarterback JT Daniels has put his name in the transfer portal, the school announced on Thursday.
Daniels suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the 2019 season opener against Fresno State last year, leading to Kedon Slovis having a strong season (Slovis threw for 3,502 yards, 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions) as the Pac 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year. With Slovis slotted in as the starter, Daniels made the decision to explore his options while he's still rehabbing his knee.
Trojans coach Clay Helton issued the following statement, foreshadowing a potential return: "We have been working with JT and his family, as well as our compliance office, to help navigate the process of entering his name in the transfer portal. It is his desire to explore all of his options going into the 2020 season.

"We will continue to support JT in every way possible and help him through his decision, including the option of staying on with our football team. JT is a terrific person, student, player and valued member of our football family."
Daniels, a former five-star recruit, previously made headlines several years ago for his big USC tattoo on his right leg. In his true freshman year, Daniels passed for 2,672 yards, 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions as the Trojans went 5-7.
