Purdue's Chris Jefferson to miss Saturday's game against Nebraska to focus on 'mental health'

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Saying "mental health is most important," Purdue defensive back Chris Jefferson will miss Saturday’s game against Nebraska.
Jefferson posted a message on Twitter on Wednesday.
"Imma be right back! Mental health is most important, we still (going) handle business!" Jefferson wrote.
The fifth-year senior, who has played the nickel position and safety, wasn’t in the starting lineup in last week’s win at Maryland. He had started the first five games and collected two interceptions, including a pick-six against Penn State in the season opener.

Cam Allen and Sanoussi Kane are expected to start at the safety positions and Bryce Hampton would likely work into the rotation. The defense would lose its backup nickel to Jalen Graham, who just returned last week after missing four games.
Jefferson earned All-America honors at Findlay Ohio, a Division II program, before transferring to Purdue prior to the 2021 season.
