Clemson has captured a commitment from one of the top players in the Class of 2024 as the Tigers seek to get back to the national championship.

On Monday, Sammy Brown, a five-star recruit and the top-ranked inside linebacker in the class, committed to Clemson after his official visit this past weekend. He made the announcement via Twitter that he'd chosen his college home.

"For the last two and a half years, I have been blessed with the privilege of building relationships with the finest men in college football. I've taken dozens of visits to great campuses across the country, spent many nights in conversation, and watched some incredible football games along the way. To all of you who that have shared your lives with me, I am forever grateful and I will always cherish the opportunities you afforded me. Specifically to the head coaches and staffs, I appreciate everything y'all have done for me through this whole process," he said in a Twitter post that also included a graphic of him wearing a Clemson uniform against the backdrop of Memorial Stadium.

He also had offers from Tennessee, Oklahoma, Ohio State and defending national champion Georgia.

"To choose one school from among the final 5 was a nearly impossible task as they are all top notch programs headed by incredible men," he said. "My family and I have spent many months in prayer, seeking God's will for my life. With that being said, I know God's plan for my life takes me to Clemson, South Carolina!!"

The statement concludes in all caps and purple and orange heart emojis "100% COMMITTED GO TIGERS."

Brown, 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, is entering his senior year at Jefferson High School in Georgia where, according to 247 Sports, he has amassed 164 tackles and also plays offense. He transferred to the school his sophomore year and missed some time with a knee injury after playing his freshman year under his father at Commerce (Georgia) High School. He also participates in wrestling and track and field.

In declaring to play for head coach Dabo Swinney and defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin, he joins fellow defensive commits linebacker Drew Woodaz from Tampa, Florida, and defensive lineman Hevin Brown-Shuler from Atlanta. Brown-Shuler congratulated his fellow Georgian on Twitter, saying their time at Clemson will be a reunion of their seventh-grade championship team.

Current linebackers Barrett Carter and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. are entering their final seasons with Clemson, which will give Brown an opportunity to compete for playing time when he joins the team the year after.

The Tigers finished 11-3 last year and lost 31-14 to Tennessee in the Orange Bowl. They won the national championship in the 2016 and 2018 seasons.
