Ashton Jeanty Heisman Trophy odds: Stats, more for Boise State football running back
Only one player stands in the way of Boise State football running back Ashton Jeanty making potential history in 2024: Colorado's Travis Hunter.
Jeanty, who is on pace to best Barry Sanders' NCAA single-season rushing record, set at Oklahoma State in 1988, is also seeking to become the first running back to win the Heisman Trophy since Alabama's Derrick Henry did so in 2015. But Hunter, who plays both ways for the Buffaloes, is running away with the odds to win the prestigious award.
However, while Hunter sits at home this weekend, Jeanty has a chance to help the Broncos win the Mountain West Conference and potentially clinch a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff. Jeanty has rushed for over 100 yards 12 times, crossed 150 rushing yards nine times, and over 200 yards five times, and could carry Boise State to its first conference championship since 2019 on Friday evening.
