Myrtle Beach Bowl: Coastal Carolina vs. UTSA predictions, odds, how to watch Monday

Coastal Carolina gets to play a bowl game in its home stadium this year. The only problem is the Chanticleers need a new quarterback.
This is the principal storyline ahead of the 2024 Myrtle Beach Bowl, which takes place Monday between Coastal Carolina and Texas-San Antonio at Brooks Stadium. It's yet another game on the bowl schedule this year affected by the realities of college football's tumultuous offseason schedule at the moment. It's also why UTSA enters as the clear favorite despite playing in a de facto road game.
Coastal Carolina (6-6) saw starting quarterback Ethan Vasco and back-up Noah Kim enter the transfer portal since the regular season ended, and it means the Chanticleers are likely to use a quarterback (Tad Hudson or Alex Walker) who has never thrown a pass in a college game before. Coach Tim Beck is likely to rely on running backs Braydon Bennett and Christian Washington to pick up the slack.
UTSA (6-6) closed the season strong to get bowl eligible for the fifth-straight year under coach Jeff Traylor and could set itself up for a big 2025 season with a bowl win in enemy territory. As opposed to Coastal Carolina, UTSA appears to have most of its roster intact for this game. Quarterback Owen McCown, the Colorado transfer and son of former NFL quarterback Josh McCown, threw for almost 3,200 yards and 24 touchdowns this season. UTSA defensive lineman Brandon Brown is also expected to play despite declaring for the NFL draft.

Sports Illustrated: UTSA wins
"UTSA is expected to have a majority of its roster accounted for and looking to finish the season on a high note while we can’t seem to find the bottom for this Coastal Carolina roster with a handful of impact players hitting the transfer portal."
Sporting News: UTSA 31, Coastal Carolina 27
"UTSA won four of its last six games just to get bowl eligible — and Owen McCown (3,170 yards, 24 TDs, 9 INTs) had a strong season at quarterback. The Chanticleers lost four of their last six games. Those trends don't always matter in bowl games, and the Chanticleers are at home here."
College Football News: UTSA 34, Coastal Carolina 23
"UTSA isn’t a full go personnel-wise, either, and the home field angle will make a bit of a difference, but one team has its quarterback – Owen McCown is a good one – and the other side is starting fresh. The Chanticleers will be just good enough defensively to keep this close and interesting, but there will be too many offensive misfires."
