Texas football staved off a late comeback attempt from Clemson on Saturday night, advancing to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff in the process.

The 5 seed Longhorns defeated the 12 seed Tigers 38-24 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas after holding a 28-10 lead at halftime.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik pulled his team to within a possession early in the fourth quarter after throwing a fourth-and-6 touchdown pass to make the score 31-24. However, Texas responded on its next drive with a 77-yard touchdown run by Jaydon Blue, which significantly hurt the Tigers' chances.

Texas' rushing attack was borderline unstoppable on Saturday, as it ran 48 times for 292 yards as a team, cashing in four rushing touchdowns.
