Holiday Bowl: Predictions, odds, how to watch Syracuse vs. Washington State
In Friday's 2024 DirecTV Holiday Bowl, the No. 25 Syracuse Orange will take on a Washington State Cougars team undergoing lots of change.
Syracuse (9-3) comes into this one having won three straight. Most recently, the Orange pulled off an upset win, knocking off the Miami Hurricanes, 42-38. Coming back from an early 21-point deficit, Syracuse leaned on quarterback Kyle McCord (380 yards, three touchdowns) to claim a huge victory. Amid the transfer portal changes impacting this bowl season, the Orange are reportedly coming into this game at full strength.
By contrast, Washington State (8-4) enters the game in disarray. A total of 27 players have entered the transfer portal, including quarterback John Mateer. Head coach Jake Dickert took a new job at Wake Forest, and several of his assistants are headed to Oklahoma, leaving Pete Kaligis as acting head coach. Per the Spokesman-Review, Wazzu athletic director Anne McCoy had to confirm to reporters that the Cougars would be turning up to Snapdragon Stadium with a team ready to play.
