Over the past few days, fans across the country have gotten a glimpse at some of college football’s best players, with Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State and Texas all competing in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

This weekend, those same fans get a chance to see some of the future stars of the sport before they step on a college field and begin their own quests for a national championship.

For years, the U.S. Navy All-American Bowl (formerly known as the Army All-American Bowl) has been one of the premier showcases for the top high-school football players in the United States. It will return on Saturday, with the 2025 edition of the game taking place nine days before the college national championship.

Historically, the event has featured players who not only went on to make a significant impact at the college level, but also players who became stars once they reached the NFL.

According to the bowl’s website, it has produced 594 NFL draft picks, 247 Pro Bowl selections, 93 Super Bowl champions and 18 Heisman Trophy finalists over the course of its history. Not all of its standout participants are from the distant past. This time last year, before he was helping lead Ohio State on its push for a national championship, freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith was competing in the bowl.

The event is more than just an opportunity for fans of schools to see their highly touted recruits square off against the best competition nationally. Some news will be made, as well. Though many of this year’s invitees are already signed with schools, seven players are set to announce their commitments during the game.

This year, there's an added wrinkle to the proceedings, as juniors can now play in the game.
